I have a 4 ft closet space in my house and I wanted to maximaze the space. I got the configurations deluxe 4-8ft closet kit and knew this would improve the space I had from a single hang wardrobe shelf. Here's the steps I took and you can also follow these steps to help maximize your closet space:
- Take everything out of the closet and toss/donate/keep your existing items
2. Remove all previously installed closet systems/shelving
3. Spackle any holes that were created from removing the existing shelving
4. Follow the configurations closet kit's instructions
- 1st put up the rail
- hang the uprights
- hang upright extensions (based on the design you choose to use)
- insert the brackets and shelving to your desired look
- hang hang rod/s
It was that easy!! It took me about a total of 2 hours, and it looks great!! I can't wait to fill the space!

I would love it if Rubbermaid would do a hands-on Configurations® workshop at the NAPO conference one of these years. For those of us who aren’t particularly handy, a chance to walk through the process would be enlightening!

What a great idea for the NAPO conference. We will have to see if this is possible to do in the future. Unfortunately it will not happen this April but I will keep it in mind for the following year. Hope to see you in sunny San Diego soon!!!
