Green Tips : “BABY” Premier! Cute and Sustainable!

This guest post was written by Pauline Petrillo, who works in our R & D department

I love Rubbermaid’s new .5 cup Premier food storage containers! Sure, they’re tiny and cute (and that was good enough for me).

But recently I found the perfect use for them! They are the ideal size for storing individual servings of baby food. I have a little, old rat terrier that is toothless (and deaf, and partially blind, but I digress… ) so I usually give him baby food, organic yogurt and a small amount of dry food.

I took a look at all of the tiny baby food jars that end up in my recycling bin each week and came up with a way to eliminate the glass altogether. I made my own organic baby food.

I used all organic ingredients: chicken, green beans, and sweet potatoes. Whipped up a batch and filled up every container I had and stored them in the freezer.

I will no longer need to purchase baby food or worry about the glass containers and I will be supporting local, organic farms/businesses. Oh and most important of all…my dog, Elvis, gets to enjoy delicious, homemade food.

There is actually a mailbox that is a Gentry model. Is this what you were looking for? If so, see http://www.rubbermaid.com/SupportCenter/Pages/ContactInformationForm.aspx?ContId=57&Id=2 for contact information!
