Breakfast Cabinet

Recently I started to notice some clutter that was constantly on counter. It consisted of cereal boxes, granola and coffee.

Apparently, my morning self thought it was too much trouble to put these items back in the pantry once I made my breakfast (the pantry is on the other side of the kitchen from where my coffee maker is; however, that is also only 4 steps away).

Having dealt with my morning self for many years, I realized it was never going to conform to the notion that breakfast items needed to go back in the pantry when I was done with them. So I decided to do a little rearranging in my kitchen and apply a rule of organizing

"Place Items Where You Use Them"

So, I moved my grandmother's china to the cabinet where I kept my dog treats and moved my dog treats to the pantry where my breakfast items were suppose to go. This cleared up space in a cabinet next to my coffee maker for cereal, granola and coffee. This simple move has really made a difference! My morning self is much better at putting things away in the cabinet than the pantry, which removed clutter on my counters!

It always amazes me how small changes can really make a difference!

One of the hallmarks of organization and productivity management is keeping things where you use them. When stuff is easy to put away, you’re much more likely to follow through on the action. Good call on using space for a different purpose than you originally envisioned!

I’ve recently been going through my house re-organizing and putting things where I use them and getting rid of things I don’t anymore. It’s making life a little simpler.
