I was having a hard time deciding what to do with all of the things I used to post on our old [magnetic] fridge. With our new one being stainless, the front is not magnetic. I asked for your help in this post, and between your blog and facebook comments, I got some great ideas! THANK YOU!
One of the most interesting ideas I got was to put up thin cookie sheets on the inside of a cabinet door and use magnets to post things up. I thought that was so creative! I still might put that into practice one of these days, but for now I really wanted something to display things in plain sight…
Another comment suggested using cork squares to pin things up – and that was the approach I took. I had just seen an inexpensive bulletin board at Ikea that was just the right size, so I snagged that and put it into use. (I would like to paint the border white or something to make it look a bit nicer, but for now it works!) Here is my bare fridge and where our new bulletin board lives:
I have to do some editing to decide what REALLY needs to be displayed (since the board is smaller than our old fridge!)…but that is a good thing to control the clutter. Here is what made the cut for now:
• A photo card with our friends new address (with a cute pic of their 2 boys!)
• Sis-in-law's ultrasound pic (I'm so excited to be an aunt for the first time I can't take it down!)
• A picture colored for us by our friend's 2-year-old son
• Eric's dentist reminder postcard
• July calendar that I made for Eric
• House-sitting instructions from our friends
• A brochure from a gym Eric is thinking of joining
The new "fridge gallery" is working out great so far! Here it is from another angle. You can see it's close to our mail station (post about that here) and our key hooks:
