Wrapping Up the Details

This is a guest post written by Professional Organizer Lea Schneider from Pensacola FL and owner of

Adding pretty little details to my gifts is fun for me. Tying an ornament into the bow or nesting the gift in bright cellophane tucked into a clear treat bag makes an ordinary package special.

These little details can go from fun to tedious if you have to hunt and search for items. One of my favorite organizing products is a clear-pocket shoe holder. The only thing is I just never seem to use them for shoes. They have so many other wonderful organizing applications!

This holiday season, why not turn a clear pocket shoe organizer into part of your gift wrap center?

I’ve attached a clip-type skirt hanger to the top of this organizer so I can easily hang it from a door-frame, on a door or even just stash it in the closet on the rod to get it out of the way.

The pockets are used to hold all the details that make a package beautiful. Meanwhile, it makes  life easier and wrapping fun. It’s so easy to find my tools, like scissors, tape and hole punch when they are in clear pockets.

I came up with this idea when I got tired of digging in tubs for tiny items that seem to drift to the bottom.  Since I don’t have a spot in my home to set up a wrapping station for the entire month of December, this solution serves me well. It’s simply portable.

I stocked my clear pockets with ribbons, bows, gift tags, stickers, dollar-store ornaments to tie on packages, candy canes, miniature gift bags, cellophane treat bags, folded tissue paper and tools. I add the odds and ends of holiday cards from previous years to a pocket. These are great for a gift where you want to include the receipt or write a note with the gift. Adding a tape measure is a great idea for measuring paper for large boxes. You can use one tote for the large items, such as bigger gift bags, rolls of paper and gift boxes.

After a wrapping session, tuck the tote in a closet and hang the organizer on a rod until next time. It’s so easy to find what I need and is one more way to have less holiday stress- not to mention pretty packages.

Nice read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing some research on that. And he actually bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch!
