Creating an organized mud room is just as much about maintenance as it is about containerizing. If you don’t have family plan mapped out on how to keep this space tidy on an ongoing basis, your organizing success will ultimately derail. Let’s take a look at a few ways you can keep this room organized all year long.
1. Tidy up daily. This is probably the hardest habit to get going but it’s one that will reap many rewards if done daily. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of music playlists to get into the organizing mood. It’s a fun way to get the entire family involved and seriously takes 10-15 minutes tops.
2. Have an in/outbox area. Nope, you don’t need fancy containers for this system to work. All you need is an in/outbox zone for items that are coming in and out of the house on a regular basis. Don’t forget to glance over this hot spot each time you leave the house. What items can go with you so that they’re out–for good!
3. The one organizing product that I can’t live without are hooks. They deliver major return on a smallest investment and really work wonders in a mudroom that needs organizing TLC. Not only are hooks affordable–you can customize your space with playful hooks or go for a more classic look with a few from your local hardware store.
