Rubbermaid as Take Out Containers

I recently stumbled upon a blog I found really cool on using Rubbermaid containers for takeout.  It is an idea we have heard a lot from our consumers as a way to reduce the waste caused by disposable containers.   However, really enjoyed Jason's "social experiment" and also the reference to soup Nazi since I am a Seinfeld fan.

I commend Jason on his diligence to using durable reusable containers to encourage others to change behavior step by step.  Please continue to share any stories you have on reducing waste!

Moving Day: Cardboard Boxes vs. Rubbermaid Totes

Recently, Monica Brady (aka @mommybrain), moved from California to North Carolina. Prior to the move Rubbermaid provided her with some Rubbermaid Roughneck totes to help in her move. Below is a video documenting her "Cardboard vs. Rubbermaid Totes Challenge".

The Consumer Queen needs help in her garage

If you don't know Melissa (Consumer Queen) you should. She writes a great blog about saving money and she reviews products too.  She also has a fun Blog Talk Radio show on Thursday nights.

Anyway, a while back Lauren and I told her we'd try to help get her garage organized (now seeing the video I'm a little scared). On Tuesday she sent us a video of her garage so we could get a feel for the situation.

Below is our challenge/her garage. I thought you'd be interested in seeing. Does anyone feel like helping out? She's in Oklahoma.

Consumer Video Review of Produce Saver

Yesterday @rubbermaid forwarded me some links from ExpoTV and I thought I'd share one of them with you.

“jar7519” does a great job explaining why he loves Produce Saver and how it works.  He is able to eat more fruits and vegetables because they stay fresh and crisp longer when stored in these helpful containers.  Produce Saver also helps him to save money since he doesn’t have to throw out bad produce.

This video was found on ExpoTV.  It was not created by Rubbermaid.  We would like to thank jar7519 for his endorsement of Produce Saver!

Which Trash Can is Right for Me?

Everyone has a trash can outside the home, right? Some people keep it near the garage, in the garage, beside the deck or even next to the back door. Me? I keep mine at the beginning of my driveway (near the house). It's not the most sightly thing, but it's the most convenient location when it comes time to wheel it out to the street on trash days.

Often, my city trash can (although large) doesn't do the trick. There could be weeks where I've had a party, finished some yard work or cleaned out a closet. When I went shopping for an additional trash can, I was amazed at the choices available today. Who knew consumers had so many options in a can?

Here's a few tips in case anyone is in the market for an extra outdoor trash can and can't decide on a perfect fit.

1339_sm_3SCENARIO #1: You've just added "trash duty" to your 8 year old son's chore list.

SOLUTION #1: Try a can that is on the smaller size, so your child won’t struggle with it, and make sure it has wheels so he can doesn’t have to lift and carry it if the garbage is particularly heavy. Consider the 32 Gallon Wheeled Trash Can.

5f82_sm_3SCENARIO #2: Raccoons and other critters like to dine on your leftovers and make quite the mess.

SOLUTION #2: The 32 Gallon Animal Stopper Trash Can includes additional latches to help prevent unwanted animals from getting the lid off. (Watch this amazing video of raccoons meeting their match with Rubbermaid’s Animal Stopper.)

5h38_sm_4SCENARIO #3: A relatively short trip to the curb or a can that sits stationary in one location.

SOLUTION #3: A non-wheeled can should be sufficient, such as the 32 Gallon Non-Wheeled Trash Can. It's even got a bag sinch (to hold the bag in place) and a lid tether to keep the the lid close by.

Here's how to build a Rubbermaid Shed in 5:28

This couple looks like they had a great time installing their shed. The best part is that it only took 5 minutes 28 seconds (I think).

This video was found on YouTube. It was not created by Rubbermaid.  We would like to thank the producer, director and talent for the work on this project.
